Gordon Elliott has established himself as one of the best young trainers in Ireland over the past few years after he wrote himself into the Grand National record books in 2007. When Silver Birch won at Aintree in 2007, Elliott became the youngest ever Grand National winning trainer at just 29 years of age. That win for Silver Birch was Elliott's first runner in the National and catapulted Elliott to a new level and he has continued to feature in the big races ever since.
Elliott has had success primarily over the jumps but also on the flat which was highlighted by Dirar's win in the famous Ebor Handicap at York in 2010. He has also had a number of top class chasers in recent years with the likes of Chicago Grey and Jessies Dream winning big races for Elliott over the past couple of years. The Grand National will always hold a special place in the heart of Gordon Elliott and as his stable becomes stronger he is sure to have a couple of top class stayers earmarked for Aintree each season.
More and more of the top owners are deciding to send their horses to Gordon Elliott which has seen his yard becoming increasingly strong over the past couple of years and there is no sign of that slowing down. Elliott very much has age on his side as he bids to overhaul the likes of Willie Mullins in Ireland and while that may seem a dream at this stage he looks to be heading in the right direction.
